Video marketing trends for 2017 – One of the biggest shifts in social media industry

Social media is always in the flow and it is going through one of the biggest shifts at present as videos are getting increasingly common among the target audience. The evolution of enhanced mobile technology has allowed widespread consumption of video which is always available to viewers. Though video content is not new, it is definitely growing and will also expand in 2017 and beyond that. Here are some video statistics which vouch for its popularity:

  • 1/3rd of all online activity consists of watching videos
  • An average user views 33.4 videos in a month
  • 80% of the online video viewers have sometime or the other interacted with an online video ad in a month
  • 76% of official people watch videos related to work on their business websites at least once in a week
  • 38% of online viewers usually consider video ads as credible

This makes it clear that video has a strong footing and it is most likely to grow in the near future. So, if you’re still confused about why use video marketing, here are some video marketing trends that you should know of.

  • There’ll be a huge increase in Facebook Videos

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as daily views on Facebook has jumped from 1 billion to 8 billion in 2015 and at the same time text posts are declining with time. Facebook is the only company which has invested heavily in video and the social media giant, Mark Zuckerberg has invented their recent video feature called Facebook Live. They are the ones who are constantly taking technology to the next level with their brand new innovations. If Facebook remains an innovator in the industry for video marketing, next year there will be a larger increase in the number of people sharing, uploading and discovering videos.

  • Live videos will take a quantum leap

The reception to the feature of Live Video has been extremely positive and consumers and brands have started utilizing Facebook Live as a measure to interact with their fans and followers in an improved way. Twitter also joined hands with Periscope to let users embed live videos into their tweets which too generated a massive audience. 85% of Twitter users agree that they watch videos on a daily basis.

  • Sales teams will need increased video resources in 2017

The fundamental reason behind the popularity of video marketing is that consumers love to watch videos. The easiest way of digesting information is watching videos and it is as good as watching the product which you’re about to buy. Hence sales teams of most companies will need increased video resources in 2017 as there are statistics to prove the statement. Nowadays only 4% of people prefer learning about a product by going through a manual, only 5% prefer speaking to someone and 45% prefer watching a video on the product.

Hence, it looks like 2017 is definitely going to be another interesting year for video marketing. There are definitely some changes that are going to occur but videos will still stay prominent in the world of marketing.

Annapurna Pictures Launches Interactive Video Game Division

Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures, the production company behind “Sausage Party,” has launched Annapurna Interactive, a division which will produce and publish video games.

Annapurna Interactive will publish two games targeting Spring 2017 release dates: Jason Roberts’ “Gorogoa” and Giant Sparrow’s “What Remains of Edith Finch.” “Gorogoa” is a story within a puzzle where the player moves panels on a grid. “Edith Finch” is a collection of short stories centered around the cursed Finch family.

Annapurna Interactive will also release games from other developers like Funomena and Creative Director Keita Takahashi, creator of the “Katamari Damacy” franchise.

The division will be run by a team of veterans whose credits include “Journey,” “Mortal Kombat,” “Flower” and “Fat Princess.”

“I’ve had a great passion for video games for as long as I can remember.  Growing up, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ was one of my all-time favorites,” said Annapurna’s founder and CEO Megan Ellison in a statement. “My brother and I ran up quite a bill calling the 1-900 numbers for tips on those games, before the internet provided game-guides. The artistry and diversity of interactive storytelling is exciting and we look forward to exploring the limitless possibilities in gaming. We want to empower artists across this medium to make Annapurna Interactive their home and I believe we’ve assembled the perfect team to make that happen.”

The Interactive team added, “We believe video games have a powerful ability to stir emotion. We are excited by the opportunity to collaborate with the artists who inspire us in order to bring memorable experiences to all players, whether experienced or first-time gamers.”

Annapurna’s most recent credits include “20th Century Women,” “Sausage Party,” “Wiener-Dog” and “Everybody Wants Some!!”

Proposed Restriction for Russian Online Video Services to Hit Google Play and iTunes

YouTube, however, will not be affected, as it is considered a supplier of user-generated content.

Apple’s iTunes and Apple TV and Google Play are to be hit by a Russian draft legislation introducing restrictions on foreign ownership of online video services.

Under a draft law penned by the Media Communications Union (MKS), an industry association that includes Russia’s major telecom companies and media groups, foreign ownership of online video services operating in Russia will have to be limited to 20 percent stakes.

Google Play, iTunes and Apple TV will be directly affected by the legislation because they offer, in addition to other content, movies and television services and shows, the local business daily Vedomosti reported.

According to the report, if the draft is adopted, foreign video services will have to pull out of Russia or change ownership to comply with the law.

Vedomosti quoted an MKS representative as saying that Apple and Google will have the option of requesting an exemption through the government commission for foreign investment.

Apple and Google haven’t released subscriber figures for Russia, but iTunes and Google Play are considered to be among the market leaders, while Apple TV is less popular.

Google and Apple did not reply to The Hollywood Reporter‘s request for comment.

Meanwhile, contrary to initial fears, the legislation won’t affect YouTube.

« Services that provide user-generated content, such as YouTube, as well as social media and search engines won’t be affected by the legislation, » MKS said in a statement sent to THR.

Although the draft has yet to be approved by Russian parliament, its chances for passing through parliament are high. A similar legislation concerning foreign ownership of media companies was adopted with ease two years ago.

That legislation came into effect on Jan. 1, 2016, forcing Sweden’s Modern Times Group, which owned 39 percent of the Russian TV company CTC Media, to sell its stake and pull out, while Discovery was forced to enter a joint venture with a local company to continue distributing its channels in the country.

L’ex-maire Gilles Deguire plaide coupable d’attouchements sexuels

Video: Tourism Ireland plans to build on a record breaking year for Northern Ireland in 2017

Tourism Ireland launched marketing plans on Tuesday at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast, to tourism leaders to promote Northern Ireland overseas in 2017.

A record-breaking 2 million overseas visitors came to Northern Ireland in 2016, top Northern Ireland attractions include the Giant’s Causeway, Titanic Belfast and Game of Thrones locations.

Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “2016 will be the best year ever for overseas tourism to Northern Ireland. Throughout the year, Tourism Ireland undertook a packed programme of promotions, to bring Northern Ireland to the attention of travellers everywhere. Thousands of opportunities were created for potential visitors around the world to read, hear or watch positive messages about Northern Ireland; Tourism Ireland estimates that this media exposure is worth an estimated £104 million in equivalent advertising value. Other positives in 2016 have included Tourism Ireland’s strength in digital and social media (the organisation is the fourth most popular tourism board in the world on Facebook, with more than 3.7 million fans and over 700 million digital connections).”

Mr Gibbons added: “We are heading into 2017 in a position of some strength, based on the success of 2016. Tourism Ireland will create ‘stand out’ for Northern Ireland around the world next year, highlighting iconic experiences like Titanic Belfast and the Causeway Coastal Route. We will continue our successful partnership with HBO, to highlight Northern Ireland – through the exciting events of Game of Thrones – on the global stage.

“Priority markets will include GB, Mainland Europe, North America, and Australia and Developing Markets. We will continue to monitor the implications of Brexit on outbound travel from GB. We are committed to ensuring that Northern Ireland continues to increase its share of the global travel business.”
