VIDEO Interview: Jennifer Kyriakakis talks Matrixx, telcos, Telstra, tech and International Women’s Day

Matrixx Software offers the Matrixx Platform – a real-time, integrated infrastructure for the business of Digital Service Providers.

Co-founded by Jennifer Kyriakakis and Dave Labuda, Matrixx says it provides the ‘IT foundation to move to an all-digital service environment with a new kind of real-time time technology platform, designed to handle the surge in interactions without forcing the compromises of conventional technology.’

Happily playing up the movie ’Matrix’ theme, I have covered various Matrixx stories over the past year at iTWire, including ‘VIDEO: Telstra enters the real time Matrixx,’ ‘No glitch: Leading light Matrixx wins outstanding award,’ ‘Matrixx takes red pill, predicts innovative 2016 digital reality’ and ‘The Matrixx has Velocity and goes Digital, Telstra has access.’

So, when I was offered an interview with Matrixx Software’s co-founder and VP of Marketing, Jennifer Kyriakakis, to talk about telcos, tech, OTT video, Chief Digital Officers and more – on International Women’s Day no less – I was delighted to agree and make it happen.

So, as you’ll see in the video interview embedded below, I welcomed Jennifer to the program, and asked her to briefly explain the products and services Matrixx offers to the world’s telcos.

I then asked an obvious question – at least to me – which was whether the Matrix movies had any impact on the naming of Matrixx software, or whether it was something else. As you’ll find out, matrices involved in Matrixx’s technology are responsible for the name, rather than the movies, although Matrixx clearly doesn’t mind the cool association.

Jennifer then answered questions around how consumer expectations have changed and evolved since the smartphone, and how the OTT revolution is impacting telecommunications companies – which some companies, like Telstra, have long delivered since even the feature phone days via services like Mobile Foxtel, in the aim to be far more than just a ‘dumb pipe.’

The article continues after the video interview with Jennifer Kyriakakis, embedded below.

The interview was conducted over Skype and needed better lightning, but it’s all good as you’ll see.

Jennifer also shared her views on some of the benefits of telcos transitioning to digital, as well as the position of ’Chief Digital Officer’ that is being created by many businesses.

We then looked at what the mobile experience might look like over the next 5 to 10 years, before moving on to International Women’s Day.

Here, Jennifer shared her thoughts on what it was like to co-found Matrixx Software, which provides products and services to some of the world’s greatest telcos, as well as the barriers and challenges faced along the way – including the interesting observation that there are fewer women in tech today than there were 10 to 20 years ago.

Jennifer then shared some more advice for women in business today, some great advice that she has received over the years, and her final message for iTWire viewers and readers.

So, I hope you enjoy the video above, and may we see more women in business and technology making a real impact for everyone!
