KUSA – Corey Rose sat down with Scott Yates for the regular Tech Tuesday segment this week to talk about one of those companies that every business needs, but no one can quite seem to explain.
From a business perspective, placing online video advertisements has become increasingly easy. Similarly, online publishers of websites and apps continuously find new ways to monetize their content’s exposure without needing technical knowledge. That’s because companies like SpotX work in the background, placing the ads and finding the perfect match between medium and message.
The company has its roots in Denver, where it arose out of the 2001 startup Booyah Networks. Founders Mike Shehan and Steve Swoboda discovered the rapid growth of online video as a valuable opportunity, which resulted in the formation of SpotX as the first online video advertising marketplace available.
As an ad marketplace, SpotX functions as the marketplace between advertisers and publishers. Advertisers can target niche audiences without lengthy and expensive efforts to find them, while publishers can sell video advertising on their websites and apps without needing to spend time and money in attracting brand partners.
User-friendly marketplaces like SpotX have become increasingly popular among advertisers and publishers alike. In fact, the company now has offices on four continents, and is expanding its workforce by hiring a variety of positions in many of them.
Thanks to its service and friendly work atmosphere, SpotX has won a number of local and national awards. Still, understanding its business can be difficult, which is why a couple of upcoming events can help anyone who might be curious about the company.
The first event is tonight’s open house: A Night at SpotX, which will take place at the company’s headquarters in Westminster. It will feature engineering presentations on current projects as well as speed interviewing for anyone interested in joining the company.
Then next week there’s an event about finding a job in tech marketing. SpotX will have a representative there, as will TapInfluence and Arrow Electronics.
Each Tech Tuesday Scott Yates showcases new and emerging companies that are doing great things in Colorado, along with tech events. This post was written by one of the freelance writers working with Scott’s company, the outsourced blogging service BlogMutt. Do you want to see your business featured in a future Tech Tuesday segment? Build an interesting business and then go to a startup event, and Scott will probably see you there.
