Samsung is prepping for the unveiling of their much anticipated Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. However, there are still leaks springing up here and there.

One of the latest is more images that is alleged to be the new flagship from Samsung. Android Headlines have posted several photos of what they claim to be the Galaxy S7 from every angle.

The photos somehow confirm that the Galaxy S7 will have a 5.2-inch display while the more powerful Galaxy S7 Edge will have 5.5 inches. Both phones can be seen in one image side by side while they are booting up. The difference in size can be clearly seen.

Some users are concerned that the added 0.3 inches in the display for the Edge variant will mean a taller phone. Fortunately, the difference is minimal and can be brushed off. It can still be put in a normal-sized pocket for the most part.

There are already predictions that the design of the S7 would be very similar from its predecessors, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The photos of the alleged S7 does confirm the predictions and rumors of the curved screen and the similar design DNA.

Another possible confirmation by the images is the always-on display mode that was recently introduced in themes for Galaxy S devices. There is also an image of the S7’s home screen.

Of course, the Google search bar can be seen on the middle of the device’s screen. It also featured the Samsung Pay icon, Camera, Play Store, Phone, Messages, Internet, Apps and what seems to be an app folder for Google services.

The device’s soft touch buttons are still present. It has the recent apps and back button sandwiching the protruding black home button in the middle.

Below the device, the images show the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, a micro USB port, the mic, and what seems to be a speaker. It dispels rumors that claim the S7 to support USB-C instead of the usual micro-sized port.

Another image shows the About Device screen of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S7. The blurred part shows the Android version which can still be read as 6.0.1, which means it will probably run the new Android Marshmallow version.

It also shows the Android Security patch level of January 1, 2016. It also features the KNOX version from Samsung which can be seen as 2.6.

At the top part of the device, the front-facing camera can be seen. Alongside the speaker are what seems to be two different circular sensors. The edges are also curved just like with its predecessor.

The power and sleep button is still located at the right side of the S7. Volume rockers are still located on the left side of the phone and they seem to have generous space between the up and down buttons.

Almost all of the images were captured with a camera flash. The interesting bit is that the screen didn’t reflect much of the light from the flash, which means that it could have a bright screen that will be able to stand up to outdoor sunlight. Individual pixels can’t be seen in the screen as well, which suggests that it could have a decent screen resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge Leaked Marketing Materials

This is another significant leak as it offers both renders of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge plus solid specifications of the new flagship device. The marketing material seems to be taken out from a flyer, a newspaper or even a magazine.

It shows the name and logo of « La Caixa, » a leading savings bank in Europe. Below, the renders of the phones can be clearly seen. It was posted by a Twitter (NASDAQ: TWTR) user with the online handle Cristian_90X.

The marketing material is seemingly printed in Spanish text with the words « Proximo Lanzamiento Samsung Galaxy S7 » on top of the images. It roughly translates to « Upcoming Release Samsung Galaxy S7. » However, the most interesting part is the specs listed in the printed material.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7, according to the material, will have a 5.1-inch screen while the S7 Edge will have a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen. Both will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as has been confirmed in the images above.

The European version of the phones would also most likely sport a SoC Snapdragon 820 chipset, compared to the Exynos SoC that will probably be used in the international versions of the smartphone. An outstanding 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM will also be featured in the phone.

It also confirms the earlier rumors that Samsung will only be releasing the models in 32 GB models. Another good news is that both models will reportedly support microSD card storage expansion so there would be no problems in the file storage department.

The Galaxy S7 will most likely have a battery capacity of 3,000 mAh while the S7 Edge will have a bigger and better 3,600 mAh. One of the more interesting features is the « pressure sensitive display, » which means that it could also sport a similar 3D Touch technology from Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL). It will also have IP67 water protection, which means it will be protected from dust and water immersion between 15 centimeters and 1 meter in depth.

Besides the specs and the renders of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, there is nothing much to see in the photo. The specs seem to be in line with most of the predictions already spreading throughout the Internet.

2016-02-19: With Only a Few Days to Go Before the Official Unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S7 in Barcelona, Several Leaks From Reliable Leakers and Even Samsung Themselves Have Surfaced

One of which is an unlisted YouTube video showcasing some of the S7’s features. The video, which was uploaded in February 12, comes from Samsung Indonesia and it is evident in the language used by the female narrator in the video. It shows Dellie Threesyadinda, an archer from Indonesia, using what seems to be the Galaxy S7 while working out in the gym and in a rainforest.

Viewers were quick to point out that the Galaxy S7 could be waterproof, as the video showed it was being used under a light rainfall. However, the video’s description has a disclaimer regarding the fact.

The video’s description says: « Success, not only achieved with talent but also with hard work and the right partner to bring you to a higher level. #TheNextGalaxy *The scene in the video is for dramatization purposes only. This product is not water resistant and it should not be exposed to and/or submerged into water/liquid. »

Lilies Handayani, an Indonesian female archer who won the first ever Olympic medal in 1998, was also present in the video. She was shown taking a very much unrealistic photo of Threesyadinda while in her seat.

What made it unrealistic is the zoom, angle and lighting of the photo. It’s highly unlikely that the Galaxy S7 would have zoom capabilities of several tens of meters without losing quality. The photo seems to have been taken from eye level and not in Handayani’s position, which was a few meters above.

In terms of lighting, the subject was well lit and not even by just a flash. The depth of field was also in the levels of a DSLR, which is probably not in the range of capabilities of the upcoming S7.

Another mistake in the video is that the supposed event, the Asian Grand Prix, happened in 2013. The Galaxy S7 isn’t even unveiled yet today.

YouTube commenters immediately noticed the mistakes in the video. One YouTube user even said that the S7 has a time travel feature. Another one said that the Galaxy S7 has a nuclear powered flash as it could illuminate a whole stadium.

Other users pointed out that it was a Galaxy S6 in the video. However, the description’s reference to the #TheNextGalaxy hashtag makes it highly unlikely.

What the video confirms is the S7’s curved display screen similar to the Galaxy S6 Edge. It also showed the compatibility of the Gear S2 with the S7.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Photo Leaks

Besides the renders that were leaked earlier, there were actual pictures of the alleged Galaxy S7 from Asia. One is from HongQuang from Vietnam which showed the S7’s back.

The photo confirms the earlier rumors that the protrusion in the camera is gone. It shows flat rear camera with just a tiny protrusion in its edges along with the LED flashes in its left side. The serial number of the phone was blurred out but it seems to be a 32GB model based on the product sticker.

There are also rumors that the Korean tech giant will only release a 32GB version of the phone. However, the phone would most likely have a microSD card slot, which isn’t present in its predecessors. It would keep the price slightly lower and it would provide users with the option to add more storage than ever.

Another leaked photo from JKWan showed a benchmark of the S7. It also confirms that the Snapdragon-based S7 models for the international version will be about 15 percent slower than the Exynos version, according to Expert Reviews.

The benchmark app showed an overall score of 134704 for the model SM-G9350, which is believed to be the Galaxy S7. It has a 3D score of 57197, a CPU score of 31556 and a RAM score of 6050. Again, the photo also shows the curved screen of the S7.

Pricing Updates and Availability Leak

Another recent leak from Sammobile claims that the price tag of the Samsung Galaxy S7 would be €700 (£599) while its bigger and more powerful version, the Galaxy S7 Edge, would probably cost €800 (£699).

There are also rumors that pre-ordering the Samsung Galaxy S7 would mean a free VR headset, which would probably be the consumer version of the Gear VR headset. It isn’t confirmed whether this offer would be for contract-based buyers or if it is real at all.

Evan Blass has also claimed that the release date for the Galaxy S7 would probably be in March 11 in the United States. Release dates for the United Kingdom and other parts of the world are not yet known.

As the unveiling of the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge nears, more leaks have surfaced. One of which is another render leak which shows more of the devices’ design.

The new render leaks show the possible colors of both devices: gold, silver and black, according to Android Headlines. In addition, it also shows the phones have curved edges along with the screen.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 also had similar color schemes. However, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge renders show a much darker black, which may appeal to some.

Another leak has also surfaced, but this time it’s not a render. A side view image of what seems to be the alleged Samsung Galaxy S7 has surfaced through a Weibo post, according to WCCFTech.

The new image shows that the Samsung Galaxy S7 could have a thin form overall and has just a slight protrusion in its camera. Unlike previous Samsung phones, the camera is not as distracting because the Galaxy S7’s camera is not as bulky as its predecessors.

Reliable leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter) has recently leaked renders of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The leaked images show both the front and back of the new flagship device.

The renders showed a black and shiny design for both devices. Edges of the phone were more curved and there is no way to tell if it has a microSD card or not.

Interestingly, the front images show the time 12:45 with the date February 21, which is when the S7 is expected to be unveiled by Samsung.

Samsung has officially announced an unveiling date for #TheNextGalaxy on February 21 in Barcelona. A teaser video was launched in their website but didn’t include even the silhouette of the new flagship phone.

The teaser video showed a guy using what seems to be a Samsung Gear VR as he tries to open a 3D cube that supposedly contains the Samsung Galaxy S7. No other images regarding the phone were shown.

Samsung said: « We’ve come a long way since the first box we Unpacked. Driven by our passion to create products that open up big possibilities, we embraced every new challenge with joyful dedication. And we broke barriers to go further than ever before. This next step is bigger than any we’ve taken so far. And we want you to be there. Unpacked on February 21. »

2016-01-10: Samsung Galaxy S7 Will Feature Water Resistance, Larger Battery Capacity And microSD Card Slot

Samsung (NASDAQ: SSNLF) might be unveiling the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge soon, but there are already speculations and leaks as to how it will beat its predecessors.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs

Display – there have been new details that point the S7 to more likely have a similar design as the previous S6 line. The base model could sport either a 5.1-inch or 5.2 inch screen, while the S7 Edge variant would feature a curved display with a size of up to 5.5 inches.

Some fans are hoping that the larger variant could feature a 4K resolution. However, the new reports suggest that it will stay at its Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.

Staying true to tradition, the new flagship line will still use Super AMOLED screens for a more vivid and colourful display. The screens are also believed to consume less battery power. However, there could be an always-on display (AOD) functionality that would be featured on the new S7 line, according to VentureBeat. The AOD is believed to consume about one percent of the battery for every 60 minutes it is turned on.

Processor and RAM – Samsung would most likely use their own Exynos 8 Octa 8890 system-on-chip (SOC) that will feature four high-powered cores at 2.3GHz and four low-powered cores at 1.6GHz for a total of eight cores.

The Exynos 8 wold also use an integrated baseband modem that could support LTE Category 9 for faster download and upload speeds. This would allow the user to surf and get files faster from the Internet through a wireless data connection.

On a side note, Samsung is also fond of using different SoCs for different regions. If that will be the same case with the Samsung Galaxy S7, other variants could use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 particularly for North American versions. Fortunately, all models would most likely have 4GB of RAM regardless of the region.

Graphics Processing Unit – the Galaxy S7 could probably use the new ARM Mali-T880 GPU that will also be launched in 2016. Earlier leaks have shown the GPU performing really well in benchmarks with the next Exynos chip from Samsung.

ARM claims that the T880 will bring 1.8 times more performance compared to the Mali-T760 launched in 2014. Another claim is that the new GPU would consume 40 percent less energy even with the same workloads.

The T880 would also allow for viewing of 4K content without any problems with its TrustZone secure video path. It would also use Mali DP550 and Mali-V550 display processors.

Storage – reports have suggested that the S7 and S7 Edge would both come in 32 GB and 64 GB options. There are also some speculations that a 128 GB option is not far behind.

The new flagship line could also see the return of the much needed microSD slots. Users would be able to install up to 200GB microSD cards for more multimedia goodness and file storage.

Battery Power – Samsung won’t be bringing back the removable batteries for users to have an option to buy spare ones. However, the S7 and S7 Edge would be receiving capacity upgrades.

The S7 would be powered by a 3000mAh battery and the S7 Edge with a 3600mAh battery, compared to the measly 2550mAh and 2600mAh from the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, respectively.

Wireless charging will most likely still be a present feature on the new line. It is estimated to be 2 hours for the base model and 2.2 hours for the S7 Edge for full charges.

Cameras – there have been conflicting reports of what the new flagship line’s cameras will be. Some have said that it will feature a 20MP rear camera.

However, newer claims have settled for 12 megapixels, which is far lower than the 16MP ones found in the S6 line. The good news is that the S7 would have an aperture of f/1.7 which is much wider than the predecessor’s f/1.9.

The front snapper would still have 5 megapixels. It’s more than enough considering that selfie sticks have become popular for easier use of both the front and rear cameras.

Software – since the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow has already been rolled out months ago, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge could run the new versions out of the box.

One of the highlighted features in the new Android version is Doze. The feature allows the user to hibernate some unused apps, leaving only some essential ones to be awake. This means that the phone could get more battery life compared to the older versions.

Retina and Fingerprint Scanner and Water Resistance – more on the speculations side, the S7 could feature a retina scanner for faster phone unlocks and better security. Pincodes, patterns and passwords can all be stolen by other users, but they can’t steal the unique retina scan.

With the Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s new security features, it could be possible. Security has been an issue in the past year due to the increased data breaches and encryption debates between tech giants and government agencies.

There is also hearsay that the S7 could feature water resistance with an IP67 dust and water resistance certifications. Users will be able to use the new phone while in the shower.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Renders

To further support the rumours and speculations for the much anticipated S7, one retailer in the United Kingdom has apparently leaked renders of the new phone with Olixar cases.

Mobile Fun showed 3D renders of the Samsung Galaxy S7 with the cases, according to GSM Arena. It shows that there could be two versions of the 5.1-inch S7: one with a bigger button and one with smaller button.

Other cases were also shown. There was a Guard Cover Case, a Clear Cover Case and an S View Case. Another interesting find was a QWERTY Keyboard Cover.

The cases were for the base S7 model only. There weren’t anything for the bigger Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or S7+ models.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date and Price

Some have already claimed that Samsung would do an early Q1 2016 release. However, their lack of confirmation may suggest that it could be pushed further back.

The South Korean tech giant is expected to unveil the new line during the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. March could be the earliest month it would surface in stores.
