More than one person has died after an incident possibly involving a vehicle and stabbings in the London Bridge area of the capital, police have said.

Armed police responded to reports of a van hitting pedestrians on the bridge in central London.

The Met Police said officers were also at Borough Market nearby where they were responding to reports of stabbings.

The force said they were also attending a reported incident in Vauxhall.

Downing Street said: « The prime minister is in contact with officials and is being regularly updated on the incident at London Bridge. »

Transport for London said the bridge has been closed in both directions due to a « major police incident ».

Bus routes were being diverted and the neighbouring Southwark Bridge has also been shut, it added.

TfL said there were further closures in Borough High Street, where armed police were later seen. On the north side of the river, Lower Thames Street was closed.

BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was on the bridge at the time of the incident, said the van was driven by a man and was « probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour ».

« He swerved right round me and then hit about five or six people. He hit about two people in front of me and then three behind, » Ms Jones told the BBC News Channel.

Five or six people were being treated for injuries after the vehicle mounted the pavement and hit them, she said.

« I’d say there are about four severely injured people. They all have paramedics assisting them at the moment. »

She said the van, which was travelling from the direction of central London, headed towards the south side of the river.

Ms Jones later reported seeing a man being arrested by police. She said he was handcuffed and had his shirt off.

She said a French woman was among the injured and who told her she did not know where the two people who had been with her were.

London Ambulance Service tweeted: « Multiple resources attending an incident at #LondonBridge, please avoid the area ».

Speaking to the Press Association, Will Orton described being in a pub in the area and seeing people coming running inside.

« We didn’t really know what was going on, » he said.

« We thought maybe there was a fight or something outside. And then there were almost hundreds of people coming inside.

« The bouncers did a really good job, they shut the doors and locked everyone in. There was panic – it seemed like it was literally outside the door. People were coming inside and saying they had witnessed people being stabbed. »

Marketing video and its impact!

Video marketing is one of the most commonly adopted strategies for advertisement and branding. For any organization, based on whatever products or services, the right kind of information has to be conveyed to the audience in order to make sure that your message is clear and effective. According to consumer behavior and psychological impacts of different kinds of advertisement, video marketing is one of the strongest kind of marketing technique which impacts on the consumers in both negative and positive way. If done right, Video Production UK can result in high brand repute and more brand awareness.

Things to know about marketing video

Keeping in mind the current high quality of television shows, movies and documentaries that are being seen by your audience, it is important to understand that the quality of a video consumers would be looking forward today should be better and more impactful than what they have already seen. One thing that is the most important is to realize that people want to see something new.

What is new?

Making something new does not at all imply that you have to forcefully think of something that is out of the box, or out of the blue. All you have to do is understand the requirements of what you are promoting. Make a list of all the points you want to spread across the target audience. Once all that set, look at the quality and level of impact your audience might be looking for, for example, for a promotional video a child might want to see something happening while adults would look forward to something meaningful and helpful.

Too much of anything is

Some of the recently fail video marketing was studied, in which it was discovered that they have failed so because of too much of a point. Remember, as much emphasize do you might want to give to a point, be restricted and clear. A small yet creative message would be better than a huge video with much more effort and cost.

Hire professionals – But use your own idea

Yes, hiring professionals is important but as much to put your ideas into a documented form. The organization and planners know better than anybody what they are promoting and how much effect are they looking for. The game is to make sure that your professional understands the requirements of the organizations strategy and marketing plan. The game here is to understand that you cannot put forth your ideas without a professional video maker and a professional vide maker cannot make anything without your ideas and clarity of what you want.

Lastly, sound is everything. Practice the sound that would have the best impact. Volume and sound is eventually going to become the backbone of all the effort and process.

Once all that is done, an organization will know the impact and effect a video marketing would have on its consumers. If done right, it can be one of the most effective form of marketing.

How to Get More Value Out of Your Video Marketing

Video marketing is incredibly valuable. That’s because video, in practically every format available, can help you capture and hold the attention of your potential customers.

Did you know:

As more people reach for a mobile device to access all that the internet has to offer, there is a significant expectation that video viewing trends will continue to rise.

Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and LinkedIn are all investing in ways for users to watch and create videos. Facebook’s expectations are so high that it now has a separate video-only feed for mobile users.

Video, both organic and paid, is still the best option to cut through the social noise.

It’s easier than ever to get more value out of your video marketing:

  • The expense of creating video content continues to drop.
  • There are tons of new apps on the market to help create video posts quickly.
  • Recording original video is free and relatively easy with a smartphone, a few basic skills, and a little production savvy.

All of this means we’re reached a tipping point. If you aren’t already using video to market your brand or business, you’re going to fall behind.

Live Video Opportunities

Facebook

Depending on whether you’re using your personal profile to build your personal brand or your business page, Facebook gives users the option of broadcasting from either a smartphone or a desktop computer. Broadcasting from desktop can now be done by page admins and live contributors.

Start a Live Video on Facebook

If you want to invest in live video, Facebook also gives you options to use external cameras and live switching software. Learn more about using streaming software in Facebook’s Help Center.

Twitter

Twitter’s option for live broadcasting is mobile only, with the integration of Periscope. You can save the live video you captured on your phone to edit and repurpose elsewhere.

Instagram

Instagram’s live video is available in the “Story” section of Instagram. This is the option I recommend trying first if you need to build up your personal comfort level with live video. The videos are only visible while you’re broadcasting. As soon as you end the live video, it goes away.

YouTube

YouTube’s live broadcasting option is desktop only for most users. It takes a few clicks to get to the Creator Studio, but once there you can go live immediately or schedule your broadcast sometime in the future. The scheduled broadcast can be shared and embedded in advance just like any other YouTube video. It can also be viewed live on any channel where you’ve shared the link.

YouTube knows there is a demand for mobile live streaming. First, they started testing with channels with over 10,000 subscribers. Then mobile live streaming opened to channels of at least 1,000 subscribers. Hopefully Google will roll out live mobile broadcasting to all YouTube mobile users soon.

Mobile Video Opportunities

Facebook

Along with live broadcasting, Facebook has also opened up a video-only news feed for mobile users.

Facebook Video Feed in Mobile

All indications are that Facebook’s ad load in the main news feed is about to max out. With the limited screen size of mobile devices, the company has to find other ways to meet advertiser demand, and the mobile video feed will provide the necessary expansion of advertising opportunity.

Right now, this dedicated video feed is a great organic opportunity to grow your fan base.

All of the other social networks offer video content viewing in their mobile apps.

  • LinkedIn is the furthest behind the pack at the moment. Video embeds from YouTube and Vimeo have been supported for a long time. Posting scheduled live YouTube events in both personal and company updates gives LinkedIn connections the ability to view the live video in the LinkedIn player. But, LinkedIn doesn’t offer a native video option.
  • Pinterest doesn’t support uploads of organic videos, although they have continued to invest and improve the video advertising options on the platform. They are in the process of testing auto-play video ads with brands like Visa, L’Oreal, and Toyota. For now, most Pinterest advertisers have a click-to-play promoted video option that behaves like a GIF or cinemagraph in a user’s Pinterest feed.
  • Instagram and Twitter offer the most organic mobile video options outside of Facebook. Short mobile-friendly recorded videos are still the mainstay of both these social channels.

Getting More for Your Investment

The problem with posting video content or creating live videos, particularly in social media, has been that people will watch but rarely engage beyond the view. Many brands and marketers find it frustrating that they succeed in holding audience attention, but don’t get any further follow-through.

Thanks to a few tools and a little savvy about creating audiences based on behavior in Facebook and Google AdWords, marketing teams can turn a passive video audience into qualified leads.

Facebook Engagement Custom Audience

Facebook has given advertisers the ability to create custom audiences based on engagement with content published to a Facebook page. In particular, you can target Facebook users based on how they watch your videos.

Option to create custom audience on Facebook based on engagement

When you select this option to build a new custom audience, the top option is for video engagement. You’re now able to “create a list of people who have spent time watching your videos on Facebook,” and target them with related content.

Video is the top option for creating a custom audience in Facebook based on engagement

You can refine that audience based on how long they spent watching your Facebook videos.

Google Remarketing to YouTube Viewers

If you link your AdWords account to your YouTube channel, you can do video remarketing. You can create campaigns that target people who have watched, liked, and/or commented on your videos, visited and/or subscribed to your channel, or any number of combinations of those factors.

Marketing teams are not limited to only showing more videos to this audience. A video remarketing audience can also be used for search and display ads.

While video is a natural for introducing consumers to a new brand or product, video is also an excellent medium for demonstrating a product, showcasing a service offering, or explaining a complicated concept.

Let’s consider a hypothetical yet practical example.

A big factor in driving an audience to a publication like Search Engine Journal is the expertise and experience that the writers and producers bring to the material. It is often necessary to demonstrate that expertise. Marketing experts could consider doing live “Ask Me Anything” style videos on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube.

Due to the investment of time to promote and create videos like that, we need to get more than video views out of the exercise. We need to secure traffic and possibly qualified leads.

That’s where remarketing to video viewers plays a huge role. Once someone watches an “Ask Me Anything” about social media advertising, for example, we can then retarget that audience with a promotion of the next Search Engine Nerds podcast or webinar as well as popular articles about the same topic on Facebook, in the Google Display Network, and in Google search. We take a relatively passive but highly interested audience and draw them deeper into the publication.

Since video viewing behavior creates a strong positive connection to a brand, the next time the social media audience sees branded content elsewhere on the web, the more likely they are going to feel comfortable in clicking through.

Summary

Without a doubt, video is successfully capturing the attention of mobile users. The options to turn that behavior into real business abound. How will you choose to integrate social mobile video into your marketing plans?

House intel panel to subpoena Trump lawyer, former aide – sources

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A political feud erupted on Wednesday over the U.S. House Intelligence Committee’s probe of suspected Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, with charges that the panel’s Republican chairman subpoenaed the CIA, FBI and National Security Agency without telling Democratic members.

Committee aides complained that the chairman, Representative Devin Nunes, who publicly recused himself from leading the Russia probe in April following a secret visit he paid to White House officials, failed to consult Democrats on the subpoenas.

The subpoenas asked the agencies to provide details of any requests made by two top Obama administration aides and the former CIA director to « unmask » names of Trump campaign advisers inadvertently picked up in top-secret foreign communications intercepts, congressional sources said.

The former officials named in the subpoenas were Obama national security adviser Susan Rice, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power and former CIA Director John Brennan.

« Subpoenas related to the ‘unmasking’ issue would have been sent by Chairman Nunes acting separately from the committee’s Russia investigation. This action would have been taken without the minority’s (Democrats’) agreement, » said a senior committee aide, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Another congressional source, who also requested anonymity, said Democrats were « informed and consulted » before the subpoenas were issued.

The CIA declined to comment on the subpoenas and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and NSA did not immediate respond to requests for comment.

U.S. privacy laws and intelligence regulations require that Americans’ names picked up in foreign communications intercepts be concealed unless senior officials request them to be disclosed for intelligence or law enforcement purposes. Any such requests undergo rigorous legal reviews.

Several U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that all such requests by Obama administration officials were properly scrutinized and appropriate.

SUBPOENAS FOR TRUMP LAWYER, EX-AIDE

The spy agency subpoenas were not mentioned in a bipartisan announcement on Wednesday that the panel approved subpoenas for President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, and Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, in connection with the Russia probe.

The committee also approved subpoenas to the two men’s firms, Flynn Intel Llc, and Michael D. Cohen and Associates PC, the committee statement said.

« As part of our ongoing investigation into Russian active measures during the 2016 campaign, today we approved subpoenas for several individuals for testimony, personal documents and business records, » Republican Representative Mike Conaway and Democratic Representative Adam Schiff, who are leading the committee probe, said in a joint statement.

Conaway assumed Republican leadership of the probe after Nunes recused himself. Nunes retained his power to issue subpoenas.

U.S. intelligence agencies reported in January that Russian President Vladimir Putin oversaw a campaign of computer hacking, fake news and propaganda intended to swing the election to Republican Trump over his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

Putin has denied conducting such a campaign. Trump denies any collusion between Russia and his campaign and has questioned the veracity of the U.S. intelligence finding.

Trump fired Flynn in February for failing to disclose the content of his talks with Sergei Kislyak, Russia’s ambassador to the United States, and misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the conversations.

The retired Army general is the subject of congressional, Justice Department and Defense Department investigations into his apparent failure to disclose payments he received from Russian and Turkish entities.

Cohen is one of several Trump associates under scrutiny in an FBI examination of possible contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russia, according to the New York Times. It reported that Cohen was involved in a back-channel plan, which never came to fruition, that would have involved a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, and the lifting of U.S. sanctions against Moscow.

CNN reported on Wednesday night that congressional investigators were looking into whether Attorney General Jeff Sessions had an undisclosed private meeting with Kislyak during the campaign, citing Republican and Democratic sources in Congress and intelligence officials briefed on the probe.

The focus of the probe is on whether such a meeting took place on April 27, 2016, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, where Trump delivered his first major foreign policy address, CNN reported.

During his confirmation hearing in January, Sessions testified that he « did not have any communications with the Russians » during the campaign and said in a written statement given to the Senate Judiciary Committee that he was not in contact with anyone linked to the Russian government during the campaign.

It was reported in March that he met with Kislyak twice during the campaign, once at the Republican National Convention in July and once in his Senate office in September.

Sessions later admitted having the meetings but said they were part of his Senate duties and were unrelated to the campaign. He later recused himself from the Russia probe.
